Here's the comment I put on the product index (under the 128G SSD - no 64G listed....).

I have had the Patriot Torqx M28 64GB in my Dell Dimension 5150 Dual Core P4 (3GB RAM) (now around 4 years old), and it has transformed an old clunky machine running bloated XP to a great Win7 machine - it has a completely new lease on life. FAST to start, and shut down, copying is blistering fast - including 3x faster to my external Gigabit connected NAS system. I'm sure this will breathe a couple of years of life into the old machine.

Patriot was well priced, good specs, the 2.5" to 3.5" adaptor worked well and just clicked into place.

Whole installation was done in well under one hour.

Very Happy! (and no I don't work for them...)

Background - I've been pondering replacing my Dell desktop as it's slow and annoying - bootup times are dreadfull, shutdown likewise. Firefox crawls and crashes all the time. It's patched, updated, tuned, and still grinds. Figured XP is now very old and time for an upgrade. SSD is definitely the way to go for the new OS (Win7).

I looked at lots of research and articles on SSD, and decided to get one that had:

    128MB Cache
    NOT JMicron based
    have good read/write speeds
good value - I needed to stay below AUD$250 (around US $200).
64GB to give some headroom, though Win7 has only used around 20GB now that I have all my programs reinstalled - office, media players, iTunes, etc.
    Trim Support
    Auto Garbage etc support

As stated above, I'm very happy with the outcome, the system is very fast and I know that until it becomes slow again (we all know how accustomed to speed we become Smile ) this will be very worthwhile and will definitely go with me to any new system in the future.

Be confident, you won't be disappointed with the results.
